The Shapermint Crew is a diverse community of Shapermint ambassadors. Up next in our #ShapermintCrewLove Series is one of our Shapermint Crew Brand Ambassadors, Dominiquea Nogueira. Read on to discover how Shapermint helps her in celebrating herself.
You’re one of our Brand Ambassadors, part of the Shapermint Crew! What inspired you to join the Crew?
What I love the most about being part of the Shapermint Crew is that Shapermint has body positivity, self-love, and confidence booster as their values and mission. And no, unlike most of the brands out there, they really mean those values by applying them to their products. I love being part of the Shapermint family!
What do you enjoy most about being on the Crew?
I really enjoy seeing what the other girls on the Crew are doing in terms of spreading the brand philosophy and in terms of content creation. It inspires me personally and professionally.
How do you want to shape change with us?
My goal being a partner and part of the Shapermint Crew is to share as much as possible the idea of self-love. I've spent so many years of my life trying to be someone else or trying to follow the standards. I think now we are in a time when human beings and their mental health should be the center of everything.
How do you define body positivity?
Body positivity for me is being comfortable in your own skin and body shape. It is being yourself and taking care of your body in a way that nourishes it and makes it feel loved. It's not going towards unrealistic patterns and habits, and not chasing the new "that girl" standards imposed by society and spread by social media. - Dominiquea
How does Shapermint help you celebrate your shape?
One of Shapermint's brand values and mission is to spread the importance of self-love. I have always been very hard on myself and I always push myself to be the best and do better. That sometimes gets in the way of loving myself. So I always try to keep in mind some quotes, actions, and people. I also keep in mind what Shapermint promotes - self-love! It is okay to not be perfect all the time and it is really meaningful and important to me.
Self-love is especially important. Do you have any particular rituals or routines that spark self-love?
I love taking care of myself by doing what my body and mind need at that time. Spa days at home, doing my skincare rituals, working out, and spending time alone. Also, being creative, being around positive energies and people, and having tons of fun! The most important thing is to listen to yourself.
We absolutely love the fact that you use social media as a liberating force to celebrate body positivity and other movers & shapers out there. Are there any women on social media who inspire you to be your best self?
Well, it's kind of hard for me to say that someone on social media inspires me to be my best self since I've been using social media 95% of the time for my work/career. But, in terms of fashion, I love what Leonie Hanne has been doing and Giovana Schmitz too. For wellness and health, I enjoy what Pamela Reif shares.
What is your favorite Shapermint essential? How do you like to style it?
My favorite products from Shapermint so far are the Shapermint Essentials Tear-proof Shaping Tights. They are soooo resistant and long nails approved. So comfortable and it comes in three different colors allowing me to style in a thousand ways. My best combo last winter was the tights and high heels... love it!
When was the last time you tried something new that you thought you couldn’t do? Can you share more?
Good question. I think the last time that I tried to do something new was to learn a new language at this point in my life. I'm passionate about learning new things, but to be honest, the languages that I'm fluent in speaking are the ones that I focused on most of my life learning and I started at an early age. When I moved here to the United States, I met my boyfriend who I speak English with. English is both our second language—so now, we are both trying to learn each other's first languages. Mine is Portuguese and his is Mandarin. And even being completely different in the language system, at first I thought that it would be impossible, but now I'm seeing that it is not, it just requires practice.
Looking in front of the mirror, what would want to tell yourself?
I want to tell Dominiquea, myself, that you can achieve everything that you want, you just need to go for it and take action! And that you always need to remember your true worth and that you are such a powerful person. Just be yourself and love every step of it!
