In continuation of our #ShapermintCrewLove Series, we had the pleasure of interviewing one of our Shapermint Crew Brand Ambassadors, Siiri Paton. Let’s get to know her more and discover why she wants to shape change with us.
You’re one of our Brand Ambassadors, part of the Shapermint Crew! What inspired you to join the Crew?
I’ve been seriously doing the “influencer” thing for a couple of years now, and something I’ve always believed in is making sure I only ever promote something that I totally believe in and stand behind. I had been wearing Shapermint products for a few months and had formed a solid opinion on the products, and the customer service, and figured this could be a great opportunity to share something I love, so I applied!
What do you enjoy most about being on the Crew?
Knowing that I’m helping promote more than just products—it’s an overall mindset of embracing your body and spreading that love is something I can seriously get behind.
How do you want to shape change with us?
I want to help people realize that societal beauty standards are all relative, ambiguous, ever-changing, and in many cases, unobtainable. I want to help people to know they’re perfect just as they are. I also want to show that you can be your authentic, weirdo self and still be accepted and successful, whatever that looks like to you.
How do you define body positivity?
I feel body positivity is a way of life and not just a mindset. I also believe it is taking care of yourself and respecting your body, nourishing it daily, moving it if/when you can, and knowing when to take a rest.
Beauty comes in all sizes, and we are all born unique and different. - Siiri
Self-love is especially important. Do you have any particular rituals or routines that spark self-love?
So, I love my fair share of reality TV shows! I like unwinding by binging on Survivor these days. It helps my mind relax and forget about anything else going on. It’s also a little nostalgic to me since it was the first reality show I got into as a preteen. I also like to do a quick (not very involved) skincare routine, spruce up my hair a bit with a dye touch-up, trim my bangs, or wave my hair.
We absolutely love the fact that you use social media as a liberating force to celebrate body positivity and other movers & shapers out there. Are there any women on social media who inspire you to be your best self?
I’ve loved and admired my fellow Sagittarius Britney Spears ever since I was a kid, and as a wrestling fan, I love Bianca Bel Air, Rhea Ripley, and Asuka. The one and only fitness coach I follow is Beth Feraco Fitness since she promotes a realistic lifestyle without food restriction. She reminds me that you can eat the piece of cake—just have an apple sometimes too! Heck yes. She has helped me improve and maintain my relationship with food while being on a safe and healthy fitness journey, hands down.
How important has stocking up on basics been to you during the quarantine?
Oh DEFINITELY important! I literally live in leggings and sweats as it is. And with this whole global situation going on, being home more often, comfort is key. If I’m spending some quality couch time with our babies (cats Boo & Beans) — cause Beans can pin me and I’ll become a victim of feline induced paralysis at and time—comfort is important.
What are your top tips for breaking out of a fashion/style rut?
Don’t be afraid to try something new—a new print, style, or in my case, maybe a clothing item that is not black or neutral colored. I will say, I mostly wear black leggings, and because of Shapermint I now own, and regularly wear, *gasp* gray leggings.
What is your favorite Shapermint style? How do you like to style it?
I love wearing one of the wireless bras and a sweatshirt over it. It’s so comfy and I can feel the fuzziness of the sweatshirt all over. I also love wearing the shaping leggings with a sweater or, honestly, anything. Leggings are life.
Want to share anything else?
I’m a professional artist with a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and recently certified MUA, of which my favorite gig is doing makeup for a high school’s theatrical shows. I have acted in shows before, but lately, I’ve loved doing my work behind the scenes. I LIVE for quick changes! I love anything dark and spooky and skull-related, and we have some Halloween decorations up year-round—but I like the Christmas season the best. I am also a published children’s book illustrator with some local authors!
